PictureBook walls of Penukonda Ramaswami Temple

Some stories from Krishna Leela portrayed on the temple walls in Penukonda .
In all these stories , the asuras are killed only to deliver them from a curse incurred in previous birth.

Shaapa vimochanam of the Gandharvas , Nalakubera and Manigriva , sons of Kubera , cursed for  the disrespect they showed Narada .

Pralamba , killed by Balarama .
Vijaya , son Huhu , was cursed to become Pralambasura , for inadvertently  plucking flowers from Kubera's garden.

Putana is considered a personification of diseases causing infant mortality . She is also among a class of Yoginis who protect children.

Arishtasura : in previous birth was Naratantu , student of Brihaspathi , the devaguru , but had shown disrespect by  sitting with legs stretched towards the guru . Hence cursed.

Mandagathi , a son of King Bali , was too vain and arrogant , proud of his immense strength . He was cursed to become a wild elephant by the old rishi Tritunda , after he knocked him down carelessly .

Chaanura and Mushtika : Sons of anobleman of Amaravathi , the youths were turned into brutish wrestlers disliked by everyone , because they were unprincipled and disrespectful towards parents and teachers .

The Ass-Demon killed by Balarama , because Krishna had vowed not to kill Prahlada's relatives . In previous birth the Ass was Sahasika who had hassled Durvasa and got cursed.
